CITIZEN ALERT - IF YOU ARE AN UNAFFILIATED VOTER Unaffiliated voters deny themselves the right to vote in the critical AUGUST 10th PRIMARY July 19, 2010 Anyone interested in voting in the August 10th Primary must be registered in a party in order to vote in the town in which he/she lives. If you are registered as Unaffiliated, you may choose to become a member of a party by filing a new registration form by August 9th at Noon. The Registrars of Voters in Canaan, Cornwall, Kent, North Canaan, Salisbury and Sharon will hold special registration sessions in order to register new voters, to correct the name or address of a previously registered voter, or to allow Unaffiliated voters to enroll in a party. If you have moved since the last election, you should contact the Registrar of Voters in the town in which you now live. Registrars will be in their offices on Tuesday, July 27th from 5 PM until 7 PM. Mailed in applications for registration must be postmarked by August 5th, 2010. After August 5th, you may register in person if you have reached the age of 18, moved into town or have become a citizen, between August 5th and August 9th. The Registrars will be in their offices on Monday, August 9th from 9AM until Noon to register ONLY those who become eligible after the 5th. All mailed in registrations must be postmarked no later than August 5th in order to be eligible to vote in this Primary. You may also register Monday through Friday at the Town Clerks Office in your Town Hall. Please check with the Town Hall in your town for their hours. Voters registered as Unaffiliated may change their registration to a party up until August 9th at noon.
